Lucknow has witnessed yet another shocking incident of inappropriate behavior. A train ticket examiner (TTE) has been arrested by the government railway police (GRP) at the Charbagh railway station for allegedly urinating on the head of the wife of deputy station superintendent of the railways.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday when the Akal Takht Express (12317) was nearly two hours away from Lucknow. The accused TTE has been identified as Munna Kumar from the Begusarai district of Bihar. He was supposed to alight at Saharanpur junction after his duty.
The victim’s husband has filed an FIR against the accused TTE under IPC sections 352, 354 A, and 509 for assaulting or using criminal force to any person, physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, and intending to insult the modesty of any woman, respectively.
According to the victim’s husband, the two were traveling on berth number 31 and 32 in coach number A1 of AC2 tier, and the TTE on berth number 41 came to his wife and urinated on her head.
The circle officer of Lucknow division GRP, Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, stated that they have arrested the accused TTE and sent him to judicial custody. They will also be contacting the victim and her husband to record their statement in order to ascertain the sequence of events.
This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place in India. Earlier this year, a pilot was suspended by Air India for reportedly assaulting a female colleague and later allegedly urinating on a hotel room door. Such incidents are a serious cause for concern and highlight the need for stricter measures to ensure the safety and dignity of women in public spaces.
Let us hope that justice is served in this case, and such incidents never occur again.
