MG Motor India has unveiled the name of their upcoming electric vehicle (EV), called the MG Comet. The vehicle will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Gujarat and is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling EV sold worldwide. The Comet is based on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform that was developed through a joint venture between SAIC, General Motors, and Wuling.
Let’s take a closer look at the features of the MG Comet EV. The exterior of the vehicle boasts a three-door setup with a boxy silhouette and tall boy design. The front of the vehicle includes a charging port located below the MG logo, bright LED headlights, and split headlamp setup with LED DRLs and LED turn signals. At the rear, the EV boasts high-mounted stop lamps with split LED taillights, smaller aerodynamic 13-inch wheels, and a light bar below the windscreen with a chrome strip. The MG Comet will be available in a range of colors, including Pink, White, Yellow, Blue, and Green, and is expected to offer a dual-tone paint scheme.
Moving to the interior, the Comet EV features a sleek dual-tone theme with twin 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster. The cabin includes climate control, a reverse camera, parking sensors, hill start assist, regenerative braking, connected car technology, dual airbags, and stability control. These features make the Comet EV a premium offering in the EV segment.
The battery pack and electric motor are vital components of any EV. The MG Comet EV is expected to come in two battery pack options – a 17.3 kWh unit with a range of 200 km and a 26.7 kWh battery pack with a 350 km expected range. The vehicle’s electric motor produces 45-50 bhp of power and 90-110 Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels.
The MG Comet EV is expected to launch soon and is likely to compete with other EVs in the market like the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3. The expected price of the Comet EV is around Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling offering in the EV segment.
In conclusion, MG Motor India’s MG Comet EV looks set to make a splash in the EV market in the near future, with an impressive range of features, efficient battery pack, and stylish design. With its competitive pricing, the MG Comet looks well-positioned to take on its rivals and pave the way for a greener tomorrow.
